Snow Day Blog

The weather has got me stuck in the house. So you guys will get another blog. They tried to call me in to work today. But the area that i live in is completely snowed in so I was not able to make it. My manager called me and told me that we still had people coming in to purchase some things. I guess the only person the snow is keeping in is myself. I guess if you really need something, you are going to find some way to go out and get it. You won't catch me out there slipping and sliding. But I am craving some tacos....we'll see

Hallmark Cards

In the Hallmark Cards article knowledge is considered of large value to their company. They compare knowledge to an electron because like it knowledge has value unless it is moved or exchanged. The value of knowledge is based on how efficiently it can move around the organization. The Hallmark organization is based on a community. Knowledge can spread better in a community. The communities are usually made of volunteers and invitees instead of assigned participants. This serves as an advantage for the company because with volunteers they can get many perspectives. This makes the company more diverse to different ideas. The Hallmark Idea Change is a good example because it lets the consumers know that their ideas are worth something.

Knowledge Economy

I do believe that we operate in a knowledge economy. Knowledge and Information go hand in hand. As a CIS major, this concept hits pretty close to home. You can gather infomation but with no knowledge, you have no idea of what to do with the information gathered. Knowledge brings people together to operate. Although it takes time fo people to gain insight on certain perspectives, it is a fact that people work best when placed in certain situations when they have to use their heads rather than their hands. Communications also plays a vital role in a knowledge economy because it helps knowledge pass between individuals. Ideas are valued more and more as we progress into this knowledge economy.
